39 week check up

I had my check up on Valentine's day. Things went good. We heard the baby's heart beat. Dr W. checked to see if baby was head down...she is. I'm not sure about her position, he didn't say this week, and I forgot to ask. He also checked to see if I was dilated at all....nope! He actually looked disappointed and said, "Ah, you aren't dilated at all." I said, "Well, I'm not surprised." To that he replied, "I was really hoping that you were." I think he knows how tired I am and that I'm feeling like it's time to be done. But, my body doesn't agree.

We talked about induction. He is really hesitant to induce if my body isn't ready. I agree. But, he said (having 4 kids of his own and watching his wife go through it) it is totally up to us, he understands the decision we have to make, and will support whatever we decide. Fact is, the baby is ready. Dr. W. just doesn't want to force my body. Well, we decided to wait a little longer in hopes that my body will decide on it's own. I am starting to have my doubts however. I am scheduled for my 40week apt this Thursday (the 21st... the baby's due date), at which point we will probably come up with an induction date if nothing has progressed.

My concerns are that I will HAVE to be induced. Ryan was 7 days late. I had to be induced with him. I did not have a good experience with that. It took 3 days of induction for him to be born. And, he was a really big baby. So, naturally I am concerned that this baby will be late and also be big.

The other concern is that my Dr. is going out of town on the 26th. He can't induce me over the weekend (which would be the 22nd through the 24th) so that only leaves the 25th. I feel really pressured for time. But, I KNOW that God is in control and He knows exactly what day her birthday is...and I just need to rest in that!
