38 week check up

As of last week baby was considered full term...yea! So, baby girl is allowed to be born any time now. Dr W. has been out of town this whole week so I was hoping she would decide to wait until next week to make her appearance. I am thinking next week would be good for me! :) Guess we'll see what God has in store.

I had my 38 week check up today. I was actually supposed to go on Wed, but since we got 20 inches of snow that day I rescheduled. I saw Dr S. today since Dr W. is out of town. The apt went well, although I was 10 minutes late. I got to the parking lot 10 minutes early but could not find a single place to park. I drove around for 15 mins looking. Finally found something that was as far away as I could possible get...haha. At least it wasn't that cold out today. I was afraid they would turn me away being so late, but thankfully they didn't say a word about it.

Dr. S. checked me. I am not dilated (not surprised). Baby is still head down but as of today is in the posterior position. "The term refers to the fact that the baby's occipital bone (the back of the skull) is in the posterior (or back) of your pelvis. You may also hear this position referred to as 'face-up' or 'sunny-side up'." (Baby Center). When baby is in this position it makes it harder to push them out. So, I am praying that she turns before I go into labor!

Dr. S. also said that I am a -2 station which simply means that baby has not dropped...and she won't until I actually go into labor. (that would explain why I always feel like I can't breath. She is still high up there). He said that usually you only drop with your first baby...after that it takes going into labor to move the baby down. I think that is so interesting.

Other news from today's apt., I gained another 2 pounds. At my 37 week apt I hadn't gained anything so I guess it evens out. They say that you should gain about 1 pound a week during the last few weeks.

I can't believe that I will probably only have a few more posts on here before we get to meet our baby girl.

Wow! Only a few more days and you'll be at 40 weeks already! You've done such a great job, Elizabeth! We are (and have been) praying that the baby turns so she's facing back and that you have an easy healthy delivery. :)
